Frequently Asked Questions

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic comes from the Greek words for “hand” and “practice.” It’s essentially a health care profession founded on the relationship between the spine, nervous system, and overall health. If the spine is properly aligned, the body will function more freely and pain tends to dissipate.

Chiropractors use their hands to provide gentle, precise manipulations of joints that aren’t working correctly. Chiropractic is currently the third most popular healthcare profession in the world, recognized as a mainstream therapy for musculoskeletal problems such as back pain, whiplash, and tension in the posture. More and more insurance policies pay for chiropractic appointments. And while the spine is the primary emphasis, chiropractors also keep other body joints in check, including shoulders, hips, knees, and wrists.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No referral is required. You can book direct with us. If you have long-term health conditions, we’re always willing to liaise with your GP or consultant to ensure joined-up care.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

Your first appointment is about 50 minutes. It includes:

✓ A thorough review of your history and issues.

✓ A full posture, movement, and neurological examination.

✓ Your first chiropractic adjustment (if appropriate).

✓ A customized guide to what comes next.

This is also your chance to ask questions, so you’re comfortable and know what’s going on.

Is Chiropractic treatment safe?

Yes. Chiropractic is a registered health profession in the UK. Techniques are adjusted to suit each individual, lighter pressure for children, gentle pregnancy-safe adjustments for pregnant women, and controlled techniques for those with specific health conditions.

How many visits will I need?

It will be based on your condition, what you are looking to gain, and how your body responds. Some patients feel relieved after one or two appointments. Others prefer regular sessions to work on ongoing strain, posture correction, or support long-term health. With The Chiro Studio, we will always inform you precisely what we recommend.
